The transformation began with the removal of the antiquated, brushed golf cart inboard motor and its noise-producing, belt driven prop shaft. Those components were replaced by the ePropulsion Navy 3.0 EVO Pod motor system—a silent, brushless motor with easy-to-ready digital Bluetooth display of available range and side mount control throttle.
The Navy 3.0 EVO Pod motor system, with CANBUS communication, was paired with ePropulsion’s lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) E series batteries. The two E-80 batteries with 8.2 kWh of available energy are no-maintenance upgrade from the Duffy’s original battery bank of 16, 6-volt, flooded lead-acid batteries.
